Alessandro Mendini graduated from the Politecnico di Milano and initiated his career at Marcello Nizzoli's studio, where he worked until 1970. He also served as the editor-in-chief for Casabella, Modo, and Domus magazines. In 1973, he co-founded Global Tools, a collective deeply rooted in Radical Design, challenging established conventions. In 1979, he was one of the founders of the Alchimia studio, dedicated to creating objects inspired by popular culture and kitsch, diverging from the traditional parameters of functional industrial production. In 1981, he contributed to the inaugural Memphis Group collection with the Cipriani Futurist bar cabinet. Alessandro Mendini has been honored with three Compasso d'Oro design awards.
