SPECIAL NOTE
Melchiorre Bega (1898–1976) was an Italian architect and designer whose career spanned throughout five decades and encompassed three major movements: rationalism, international style and brutalism. Prominent in the 30s to 50s, Bega’s work featured in Domus magazine - founded by Gio Ponti and a leading forum to debate new trends in private and public architecture, where he served as editor for a period.
Although not as popular as some of his countemporaries, his designs can be found in many traditional Italian villas such as Dellepiane (1939) and Casa Galimberti (1939) in Milan and R Apartments in Rome. His works exemplify his cultivated yet pragmatic approach, anything but radical. Over the course of his career, he completed more than 300 design projects in the major cities across Italy and abroad.
