SPECIAL NOTE Carlo Mollino is considered as one the of the greatest architects and designers of the 20th century. Greatly influenced by the Alpine building methods and of Baroque and Surrealistic elements the furniture he designed is all one of a kind. The pieces do not follow the logic of serially produced furniture. They thus remain alien to both industrial design and handcraft and make sense only as autonomous artworks. Mollino produced a greater number of a piece only if a client commissioned this. The RAI Auditorium in Turin first built in 1952, was renovated in 2006 and all furniture was replaced. Less than 1000 Mollino armchairs were initially produced with a much smaller number now available on the market.
